This Sunday
Thomas Kemper, General Secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, will be our guest preacher this Sunday, June 17th. Kemper and his wife, Barbara Hüfner-Kemper, spent eight years as missionaries in Brazil in the 1980s and 90s. Thomas’s message will encompass themes of risk-taking, mission, and service, and will be based on Luke 10: 1-9. During worship, we will also consecrate our youth mission team as they prepare for their June 17-23 mission trip. Click HERE to find out more about TIR Kemper.

Family Life News
Youth Mission Trip
Our youth will be leading worship this Sunday and Thomas Kemper of the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries will commission them before they depart on their Mystery Mission Trip. Please join us in sending our young people off on an exciting adventure! Information on being a Mission Trip Prayer Partner will be available from Betsy on Sunday morning, or in the church office all next week.

What Do You Want For Your Children?
Pat Bruns and Betsy Lay would like to host a conversation with the parents of our children. We will gather on Saturday, June 30th, to explore the question, “What do you want for children at FUMC?” Join us as we explore the dreams that we hold for the children of our church. The time and location is to be determined, so keep your eyes out for more info in the coming weeks.

June Mission Offering
The Special June Mission Offering will support the upcoming Art the Kids’ Souls Summer Camp “Follow Your Art”. The camp will offer music, dance, pottery and much more to kids ages 4-11, right here at FUMC Boulder! It is a wonderful way to connect with our own children but also with children in our community. To donate online, click HERE and select “June Mission Offering”. To donate by check, please make your check payable to “FUMC” and designate either “June” or “Arts for Kids’ Souls” in the memo line. Blue mission offering envelopes are available each Sunday. Thank you for your generous support of the 2012 AFKS Camp!

Reminder
During the summer break, there will be activity bags and coloring stations in the sanctuary during worship for our children. Fun!

Summer Office Hours
Starting tomorrow, Friday, June 15, FUMC is moving to summer hours and closing a bit earlier on Fridays. The building and church office will be open Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and 2:00-3:30 pm, and Fridays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm only. We will still be closed on Mondays, as usual. Please plan accordingly when visiting FUMC during the week. Thank you!

Adult Forum
We are fortunate to have Thomas Kemper, General Secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries, share with us about United Methodist Mission work and perhaps more about the impact of the church restructure. Thomas is the first non-US head of our mission agency and was an executive in the German mission board. He will also be preaching and commissioning our youth mission trip participants. Join us at at 9:00 am in the Church Parlor.

CBS Special on AIDS

On Sunday, June 17th (check local listing) there will be an Interfaith Special on CBS,”HIV& AIDS: Awareness & Compassion.” This will feature the United Methodist conference on AIDS, “Lighten the Burden.” This conference was held in Tampa, FL prior to General Conference and was organized by Don Messer, Executive Director of the Center for the Church and Global AIDS and former President of the Iliff School of Theology. This program highlights the interfaith work with those who are still stigmatized with the disease.

Burmese Refugee Family Support Group
We have a Burmese refugee family fleeing from sectarian violence and arriving in Boulder County in less than three weeks! FUMC is a primary co-sponsor of this family. The mother is Nur, the father is Mohammad Abdullah and the one-year old boy is Azhar. The family’s surname is Bin. Nur is pregnant with a due date of 9/22/2012! We would appreciate your active and/or financial support.

Donations to the ministry can be made in the offering plate marked “Burmese refugee family” or dropped off at the office or handed to a Support Group Member. UMCOR Health Kits
Thank you to all who contributed to the UMCOR Health Kits and we had a few other types of kits donated. We packed nearly 70 kits to be taken to Annual Conference. These will help someone in need somewhere in the world.

UMW News
The annual summer tea at Ruth Irvin’s on Saturday, June 23rd from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Daughters of all ages are invited. Email Connie at ctakamine@msn.com for more information.

Sarah Circle will have their summer lunch at Joan Nordgren’s on Friday, June 26th, contact Joan. The other sub-groups will not be meeting in June. Coming up in July are District Day Apart on July 28th in Limon and School of Christian Missions, July 12th-14th at St. Andrews UMC in Highlands Ranch. A Shower of Good Wishes for Christina and Jedd!
Please join us in the Parlor after worship on Sunday, June 24 for a bridal shower for Christina Winings and Jedd Schwiderski, who will marry in July. Christina and Jedd are an integral part of our church family, serving on many committees, teaching Sunday School, brightening up potluck groups, and more! June Grocery Cards
The grocery gift card sales in June will benefit the Outreach Committee. This will be for support of the 3rd Sunday lunch served at the Heartfelt Cafe for approximately 110 guests each month.

Coming Soon! Matsiko World Orphan Choir!
The Matsiko World Orphan Choir, a touring musical group of orphans that is part of the International Children’s Network, will perform in FUMC Boulder on Saturday, July 8th at 7 pm and during Worship on Sunday, July 9th. The Choir’s mission is to make known the plight of the many orphaned children around the world and raising support through bookings and sponsorships. The choir has performed in many churches across The United States. If you can help by housing some of the children and adults on Saturday night, or if you are willing to help with a dinner before the concert, please contact Evanne.
