Thursday night, November 12, is the 4th annual Attention Homes Sleep Out for Homeless Youth! On this night, participants sleep on the lawn between Attention Homes’ offices and FUMC as a show of solidarity with homeless and runaway youth, many of whom have to sleep outside every night. Sleep Out-ers seek out sponsors ahead of the actual event to support them in their long, cold night outside, and all funds raised support the important, life-changing work of Attention Homes.
First United Methodist Church of Boulder is proud to partner with our neighbors, Attention Homes, for this event. Our labyrinth is the site of the pre-Sleep Out dinner and program, and our lawn is where participants spend the night outside.
Rev. Pat Bruns, our Senior Pastor, is a member of FUMC’s Sleep Out team. You can support Pat and the team by making a contribution. All donations support Attention Homes’ work with homeless and runaway youth.
Claire Clurman, Executive Director of Attention Homes, shared these words as the 4th annual Sleep Out event approaches:
Each year, the Attention Homes Sleep Out in Partnership with First United Methodist Church of Boulder event provides us with an opportunity to stand in solidarity and say NO to youth homelessness. To Pastors Pat Bruns and Joe Agne, the wonderful staff and congregation, we are forever grateful to FUMC for your steadfast loyalty to our mission of providing life changing resources to youth in crisis, and we thank you for opening your holy place of worship with our community as we seek to raise both program funds and support for the young people we serve.
