Ash Wednesday, March 1, marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Plan to attend our 12 noon service, which is being planned by members of our church’s United Methodist Women (UMW) chapter. The service will include the burning of last year’s palms to produce the ashes which are then used for the imposition of ashes during the service. Absolutely everyone is welcome!
At 6:00 pm, the FUMC community is invited to join the St. John’s Episcopal Church (right across the street from our church) community for an ecumenical Ash Wednesday service. This service will be held in the chapel at St. John’s. Please plan on attending this service as we begin the Lenten season in the spirit of togetherness with our Christian brothers and sisters from other faith communities.
After the 6:00 pm service at St. John’s, Pastor Matthias will return to FUMC to walk our labyrinth, so please join him as we begin walking this journey of Lent together. If you’re not able to attend either the noon Ash Wednesday Service at FUMC or the Ecumenical Service at St. John’s at 6:00 pm, join us for an opportunity to walk the labyrinth at 7:00 pm. If desired, the imposition of ashes will be available before you walk the labyrinth. Please Email Pastor Matthias with any questions.
Come on Ash Wednesday and begin your Lenten journey with our community! Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome.
