The Nebraska Wesleyan University Symphonic Band
What is more fun that catching a college band on tour? First United Methodist Church of Boulder is fortunate to be one of the tour stops for Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Symphonic Band on their spring tour this year. The band will present a FREE concert in our beautiful sanctuary on Thursday evening, March 9, at 7:00 pm. Your contributions to a love offering to support the band are welcome.
Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Symphonic Band will perform a series of concerts in Nebraska and Colorado during its spring break tour. The 54-member select ensemble begins its tour on Monday, March 6 in Kearney and continues through Sunday, March 12 with a home concert at O’Donnell Auditorium on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus.
The NWU Symphonic Band has a tradition of premiering major works, as well as presenting performances of the very finest in wind literature. They have commissioned works by composers Alfred Reed, Robert Jager, and James Barnes. They have also toured throughout North America and abroad to Japan, Australia, Germany, The Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Ireland.
The concert will include music by Alfred Reed, John Philip Sousa, Kees Vlak, Mark Camphouse, and music from the movie, The Incredibles. The Symphonic Band is under the direction of J. Samuel Zitek.
