Continuing Through November 20 ~ The beautiful and emotionally powerful fabric art on the sanctuary and narthex walls at FUMC Boulder comes to us from in-house artist Barbara Frey and several of her friends, a group which calls itself “Uncommon Cloth.” Ten Years Later: Reflections on 9/11 expresses the intensity of emotion which remains in our personal and national psyches. While some works reflect the extreme grief and confusion of that time, other pieces move toward a pragmatic but hopeful expectation for the future of America and the world.
Barbara Frey has been creating fabric arts for more than 20 years and believes that the soul and creativity are intimately intertwined. The program cover of FUMC’s Weekend of Remembrance, Healing, and Wholeness for the 10th anniversary of September 11 featured Barbara’s work, We Remember, which was created specifically for this exhibit. Her works can be found prominently displayed at the Children’s Hospital in Denver, in the FUMC Labyrinth room, and in liturgical use at FUMC. If you wish to learn more about Barb’s art, contact her at frey.barb@gmail.com or by calling 303/444-1010.
We believe that human beings experience longing for meaning, purpose, connection to others and a desire for transcendence beyond oneself. From early in the history of humanity, religions emerged and evolved in response to that longing. But we also know that while the institutions spawned by religion have had many positive influences, they also at times have inflicted great pain...First United Methodist Church

The dollars we give to the ministry, mission and outreach of our church have the power to change lives. The money we give is an investment in bringing God’s love to the world.
