What is BUMMP?
Boulder United Methodist Mission Partners (BUMMP) is a partnership formed in 1976 of over 16 nearby United Methodist Churches, which organizes and promotes mission projects at local, regional, national and international locations. The BUMMP Committee meets monthly and continues mission project planning between activities. If you would like to participate in some capacity, please let us know since we are always planning new activities. Active volunteer planners, workers, and leaders are welcome from all area UMC’s.
If you would like additional information about BUMMP, please contact Rick Powers: rickpowers at comcast dot net.
SAVE-THE-DATE: the annual BUMMP salmon and turkey dinner, an important fundraiser to support BUMMP’s work, is planned this year for Sunday, 10/9, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM, at Broomfield United Methodist Church, 545 W. 10th Avenue in Broomfield. The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children (ages 5-12), and free for children under 5. Enjoy delicious wild Alaskan salmon and fresh turkey, and help BUMMP sponsor work mission teams locally, nationally, and globally. Many area youth groups and intergenerational mission teams (including our church’s) have received generous support from BUMMP for their trips and projects. Come for a great meal, for fellowship, and to learn more about the work of BUMMP. Tickets will be on sale after worship, and will also be available at the door on 10/9.
Boulder United Methodist Mission Partners has filed Articles of Incorporation with the Colorado Secretary of State and will henceforth be known as BUMMP, Inc. Application is being made to IRS for non-profit status under 501c3. It is the expectation of existing BUMMP members that this action will help BUMMP to improve in many ways including: a) facilitate expanded fund raising activity to raise funds for future mission projects in excess of the few annual projects now sponsored. Sustainable funding for selected projects may be considered. Also, BUMMP, Inc. may consider sponsoring more medical mission teams, water purification projects, and will continue to sponsor construction and disaster relief projects; b) provide a structured organization which will enable BUMMP, Inc. to involve more volunteers from local churches in BUMMP missions and planning. It is our hope that the new corporation will be structured so that BUMMP can become more closely related to the local churches that support us.
