“Faith in Action – dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?” James 2:14 -17.

Here at First United Methodist Church of Boulder we put our ‘faith in action’ – meaning we walk our talk. We’ve sent work teams to Haiti, Kenya, Four Corners, for Habitat for Humanity and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) West Depot and Crossroads Urban Center, Heartfelt Café (here at FUMC Boulder), Attention Homes, Kids First (mentoring at Whittier International School), BCAP, Out Boulder and many more. Why? Because we believe in the power of helping others to transform our world and… ourselves.

Hands-on Mission offers the chance to discover and to explore what mission means for you. What could you commit time and energy to that would help someone else while at the same time ignite your spirit? What is your passion? What touches your heart?

When I was young the United Methodist Women of my hometown took me under their wings – I was their Hands-on Mission. They not only fed me and clothed me they also inspired me to take chances and take my life in a better direction. They helped me get my dignity and pride back. Today, I see Hands-On Mission as an opportunity for me to help others who might be in a similar situation as myself and inspire them to rise above their personal circumstances and see a better path. The beautiful ladies of United Methodist Women probably saved my life and now I want to return the favor by participating in this mission and outreach program.

If you are ready to make a difference and quite possibly elevate your life to new heights spiritually, consider joining us for Hands-on Mission. Look for information online and in our church bulletin each week about new Hands-on Mission opportunities and testimonials from our members about what makes Hands-on Mission so meaningful and, in many cases, life-changing.
