Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25

The foundations of Christianity are Love, Joy, Faith and Peace, which consolidate with the Birth of Christ. We need faith more than ever. Faith is stronger than Hope, and while it burns less brightly than Passion, it is the underpinnings of our beliefs. It is our own little spiritual pilot light, always burning, and ready to ignite Love, Joy and Peace at a moment’s notice.

When Mary at the tender age of sixteen discovered she was pregnant through no fault of her own, and with so much at stake, she was terrified. When Joseph realized his future wife was already carrying a child he did not father, he questioned what he should do. God intervened, telling Joseph in a dream to proceed with his marriage. Mary and Joseph did not only hope it would turn out alright, but they had faith that it would. The lesson we take away is that in order to believe, Hope is not enough, we must have Faith.

Prayer: May you and your family experience a rekindling of your Faith and the resulting Joy, Peace, and Love in this Christmas season. Amen.
