Be part of the 11th Hour Bell Ringing for Climate Change! Join members of the Green Faith Alliance and FUMC’s Green Team to ring our church bell each month for focused action on climate change. The plan is to do this every 11th day at the 11th hour for 11 minutes through this year (we started last January 11th!). Church bells, shofars and gongs will be ringing in downtown Boulder and in other house of worship throughout Boulder County to call awareness to the need for urgent climate action.

All are welcome! We gather at 10:45 AM at the corner of 14th and Spruce (outside our church’s bell tower) for a time of prayer/devotions/meditation. At 11:00 AM, the bell ringing begins. Bring your drums/noise makers, and posters/signs to call for 11th hour awakening for climate action. Our friends at the Shambhala Center across the street also participate with gongs and singing bowls…we take turns ringing our various instruments. It is fun, and we always attract some attention from folks walking by, and from passing cars.

Please email Mary Beth Downing with any questions about this or future bell ringing events.

Here is FUMC member Helga ringing the bell at July’s bell ringing:

Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome! Since 1997, FUMC Boulder has been a Reconciling Congregation, fully welcoming of LGBTQ people and their loved ones.

FUMC Church members and friends: if you’re attending worship on 8/11, we will pause the service for a few minutes so that all who wish to can go outside and be part of the bell ringing.
