First United Methodist Church of Boulder is delighted to welcome Richard Saxon’s photography exhibit, “Art Through the Lens,” to our sanctuary gallery space from March 1-May 31. Rich will host First Friday receptions for his exhibit on March 1 and April 5. Between March 1 and May 31, you may also come and enjoy Rich’s exhibit Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (stop by the church office to request access to the sanctuary gallery), or on Sunday mornings before or after our 10:30 AM church service.

Rich is a long-time FUMC member, and a Photographer-in-Residence at our church through our Arts for the Soul program. He describes his exhibit in these words:

I’m pleased to present my latest photography exhibit titled ‘Art Through the Lens.’ This show comprises an eclectic mix of images sourced from various settings, ranging from my home studio to international locations to which I have traveled. The show incorporates two elements of photography that I am passionate about: travel and still-life photography. I believe every photograph triggers a special memory for the viewer, creating a story unique to them. I hope my works achieve this story-telling, and also help viewers understand my story, and the fulfillment I experienced when creating each piece of work in the exhibit.

“Summer Gift” by Richard Saxon

The North Boulder Art District‘s First Friday series celebrates Boulder artists exhibiting throughout our community. First Friday is a FREE self-guided tour of artists’ studios and creative businesses in the NoBo Art District. Meet painters, sculptors, photographers, designers and other artists as you explore the area along Broadway from Pine Street to Highway 36. Many artists feature live music, demos and special activities.

At the First Friday receptions on March 1 and April 5, all of Rich’s photographs will be for sale, with 25% of proceeds benefiting the FUMC Youth Group’s participation in the upcoming intergenerational mission trip to Puerto Rico. The Youth will also serve refreshments, with donations supporting their Puerto Rico trip.

Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome! Since 1997, FUMC Boulder has been a Reconciling Congregation, fully welcoming of LGBTQ persons and their loved ones.
