The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 6. Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, which means “spring.”
While there is no Ash Wednesday service planned at our church, you are invited to receive the imposition of ashes (the burned remains of last year’s palms) during our regular Wednesday night labyrinth walk between 6:30-8:00 PM. Come and receive ashes from Rev. Matthias Krier or Dr. Celene Lillie before or after you walk the peaceful, candlelit labyrinth. All are welcome.
For those wishing to receive ashes as part of an Ash Wednesday worship service, our neighbors across the street at St. John’s Episcopal Church invite all FUMC members and friends to join them for one of their five Ash Wednesday services in the St. John’s chapel: 7:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 12 Noon, 4:00 PM (family service), and 6:00 PM.
Our parking lot is currently closed due to the construction of the Attention Homes Apartments. Visit our parking page for help with parking options.
