3/13: Celebrating United Methodist Women Sunday
March 13, 2016 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
On Sunday, March 13th, we will observe United Methodist Women’s Sunday in our 10:30 am worship service. We will celebrate the many ways that God’s love comes alive through the global mission and ministry of UMW (United Methodist Women) that has spanned countless generations and touched more lives than can be imagined. Our United Methodist Women embody the Lenten reality: God dwells within us, God lives among us, God works through us, and God’s love extends far beyond us. Please join us for this very special Lenten Sunday. Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome.
In 2019, United Methodist Women are preparing to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of their founding. As part of this celebration, local UMW chapters are also encouraged to celebrate their own histories. Our UMW service will be one such opportunity to celebrate. Our UMW members have planned the worship service and will take part in it. During worship, we will remember some of the foremothers of First United Methodist Church of Boulder, and ask the question “Where Would the Church Be Without the Women?” UMW will also host a special Coffee Hour after worship, so please plan to stay and enjoy this time together in the parlor after worship.
United Methodist Women is a national organization made up of chapters at Methodist churches around the country. The entire program and organization of United Methodist Women focuses on mission. UMW’s mission initiatives include:
Providing opportunities to grow spiritually
Equipping women & girls to be leaders
Providing transformative educational experiences
Organizing for growth & flexibility
Working for justice through service and advocacy
