PALM SUNDAY: 4/14
10:00 am: Annual Parade of Palms along Pine Street with a live donkey, and music from the combined church choirs of the Pine Street churches. Stop by church first to pick up your palm branch and service bulletin.
10:30 am: Palm Sunday Service in our sanctuary. We’ll experience this familiar story through the account in Mark’s gospel and hymn singing.
MAUNDY (HOLY) THURSDAY: 4/18
7:00 pm: Ecumenical Maundy Thursday service at St. John’s Episcopal Church (across the street from FUMC, 14th and Pine). This solemn service features choral music performed by the St. John’s Compline Choir, and the stripping of the altar. All are welcome.
GOOD FRIDAY: 4/19
12:00 pm-3:00 pm: Ecumenical Service at St. John’s Episcopal Church (across the street from FUMC) on the Seven Last Words of Christ. Pastor Matthias will preach on the third word: “Woman, behold thy son.” You can come and go as you like throughout the service.
7:00 pm: Good Friday Service at FUMC on the Labyrinth
Dr. Celene Lillie, Director of Adult Education and Spiritual Formation, will lead this participatory, spiritual service based on The Thunder: Perfect Mind (a 1st or 2nd century, recently-discovered Christian text). There will be time to walk our beautiful, candlelit labyrinth for all who wish to do so. All are welcome!
EASTER SUNDAY: 4/21
9:00 am: Easter Breakfast served by Our Youth
Enjoy a delicious breakfast on this joyful morning: a steel-cut oatmeal bar with a variety of healthy toppings, hot egg casseroles (meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free), deviled eggs, and HOT CROSS BUNS! Your donations support this year’s intergenerational Puerto Rico mission trip. Please invite your friends and family!
10:30 am: Easter Worship
We’ll celebrate the joy of Easter with special music from the Chancel Choir, organ, brass and timpani. Pastor Matthias will give the Easter message, and the sanctuary will be decorated with beautiful Easter flowers. EVERYONE is welcome!
After Worship: Easter Egg Hunt in Barker Park (at the corner of 15th and Spruce, across the street from the church) for kids age 0-5th grade and their families. Invite your friends!
