Lenten Book Club: Good Enough by Kate Bowler

Beginning Monday night, March 7th, Pastor Stephanie Moffitt will host an online book club for Lent. Meetings will be on Zoom on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm (scroll down for the Zoom meeting information). The book club will continue through Monday, April 11th.

The book we will read together Good Enough by Kate Bowler and Jessica Richie. This book is a series of reflections that will guide our conversation each week. Our discussions will also follow our worship sermon series during Lent.

 

Dr. Kate Bowler

Dr. Kate Bowler is an Associate Professor of the History of Christianity in North America at Duke Divinity School, and the author of several books including Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel; Everything Happens for a Reason (and other lies I’ve loved), which reflects upon her diagnosis with Stage IV cancer at age 35; and The Preacher’s Wife: Women and Power in American Megaministry. Dr. Bowler has appeared on the TED stage, NPR, and The TODAY Show, and in the pages of The New York Times, The Washington Post, and TIME Magazine. She lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her husband, Toban, and son, Zach.
