Focus Scripture: He said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord; sanctify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.”
1 Samuel 16:5

Reflection Statement
“The challenge of social justice is to evoke a sense of community that we need to make our nation a better place, just as we make it a safer place.”
From Marian Wright Edelman

Lenten Practice: How do you deal with the crises and tragedies in the world around you? Do you feel compassion? Are you overwhelmed? Scripture tells us what Jesus did. First he took action, then he prayed, and then he took time apart to be alone with God. Find your balance for compassion. Move beyond being overwhelmed so you can act for justice.

Lenten Prayer:
Loving God, show us how to love without tiring, how to care without numbing and how to pray without ceasing. May we be vessels of your compassion. May we work for your justice. Amen.
