CWU World Community Day, November 4th: Church Women United of Boulder County will celebrate World Community Day on Friday, November 4th, at the Cairn Christian Church, 1700 Stonehenge Dr in Lafayette. Registration and refreshments begin at 9:30 am, and the program starts at 10:00 am. Jerolyn Holland will speak on the theme of “Living Our Faith, Unlocking Action” about Compassion International projects for women and children in Tanzania. YAMFams Game Night Saturday, November 5th: Bring the whole family and join the YAMFams (Young Adult Methodist Families) for pizza and board games! We’ll meet in the youth room upstairs at the church from 5:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, November 5th. We can order pizza once everyone has arrived. Feel free to bring drinks, chips, fruit, or a dessert to share. Plates, napkins, etc. will be provided. Also, bring any games you would like to play (kids or adults). Bible Workbench: The Bible Workbench is a discussion class based on one of the weekly Lexionary passages. We meet in the upstairs Conference Room at 9:00 am each Sunday. Please join us this week for a lively discussion of Matthew 25:1-13. All are welcome!
Adult Forum: Continued Christian education is an important part of building one’s faith. Join us at Adult Forum on November 6th at 9am in the Parlor as Joe Agne shares some of his vision for adult education at First United Methodist and also listens to your feedback as to what topics would be meaningful to you. YAM Sunday Brunch: The YAMs (Young Adult Methodists) are restarting our monthly brunches! Join us at noon this Sunday, November 6th, at Foolish Craigs on Pearl Street. YAMs is a group for adults in their 20’s and 30’s to socialize, share, and support each other in our church community. Come join us for good food and good company!

One More Chance to Claim Your Stuff: Have you lost something in the last few months? Did you miss the “Lost and Found display” last Sunday? This Sunday, before and after worship, all items that have been forgotten at church will be laid out in the narthex one last time. Take a look to see if you recognize anything. Next week, all unclaimed items will be donated to local charities.
Yum! Sacred Bites: Join us for Sacred Bites on Tuesday, November 8, at the Lazy Dog Saloon (on the Pearl Street Mall at 14th and Pearl). Gather as early as 11:30 for catching up and ordering lunch; discussion of the week’s scripture passage, Matthew 25:14-30, begins at noon. We make sure to finish by 1:00 pm so folks can get back to work. Please join us for lunch and great conversation!
Upcoming Youth Activities: All middle school and high school students are invited to join us for Youth Group the next two Wednesday nights (Nov. 9 and 16) from 7:00-8:30 pm as we focus on Youth Leadership. How are youth changing the world today? How can YOU use your gifts and talents to make changes in your own community? We’re gearing up for the PeaceJam Slam conference in Denver on Saturday, Nov. 19 (open to high school students only). On Sunday mornings in November, youth handbell rehearsal happens from 9:15-9:45 am; all middle school and high school students are welcome! We’ll perform on Dec. 4th during worship. United Methodist Women (UMW) News and Coming Events: Do you think that Human Trafficking and sexual slavery only happens “over there?” Well it also happens right here in Boulder. Brad Riley, who is the founder of iEmpathize, will enlighten UMW on Wednesday, November 9, at 10:00 am in the parlor. All are welcome. iEmpathize is an innovative non-profit that works with vulnerable and victimized youth in the Boulder area. Please bring your World Thank Offering either to the General Meeting or to your next circle or group meeting. It will be dedicated at the General Meeting.

Free Tickets to Upcoming Seicento Concert: As a thank you to FUMC for providing them with rehearsal and performance space, the Seicento Baroque Ensemble is making a limited number of free tickets available to FUMC members and friends on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seicento, FUMC’s and Arts for the Soul’s first ensemble-in-residence, conducted by Evanne Browne, performs Saturday, November 12, at 7:30 pm in our sanctuary. The evening’s program features the music of Purcell, Handel, Monteverdi, and several lesser-known Baroque masters. An orchestra of Baroque instrumentalists including Seicento’s own harpsichordist Lark Powers, as well as vocal soloists Amanda Balestrieri and Marjorie Bunday, will join the chorus for the performance. Join this easy fundraising project—$5 for each $100 purchase benefits the designated program. This month, funds support our church’s Worship and Music Committee. Stop at the table in the parlor to purchase grocery cards or to learn more about the grocery card program.
Update on Photo Directories: LifeTouch is working on the final copies of our picture directory. If all goes well, they will arrive in late November. We’ll make sure each family in the photo section receives their free copy. Thanks for being patient.
The deadline for bulletin announcements is moving back one day to Wednesdays. Wednesdays will also be the deadline for all announcements for the weekly eblast that Michelle sends out. So the deadline for announcements for the November 13th worship bulletin and the November 10th eblast is Wednesday, November 9th at 12:00 noon. There is a new email address for submitting announcements: firstname.lastname@example.org. Messages sent to this email address go to both Michelle and Jessica, so you can get your announcements into the bulletin, eblast, and newsletter in one fell swoop! Try it out.
