Sat, Jan 11: 11th Hour Calling Bell Ringing for Climate Change Action

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Be part of the 11th Hour Bell Ringing for Climate Change! Join members of the Green Faith Alliance and FUMC’s Green Team to ring our church bell each month for focused action on climate change. The plan is to do this every 11th day at the 11th hour for 11 minutes (we began in January 2019!). Church bells, shofars and gongs will be ringing in downtown Boulder and in other house of worship throughout Boulder County to call awareness to the need for urgent climate action.

All are welcome! We’ll gather on Saturday, January 11, at 10:45 AM on the corner of 14th and Spruce (outside our church’s bell tower) for a time of prayer/devotions/meditation. At 11:00 AM, the bell ringing begins. Bring your drums/noise makers, and posters/signs to call for 11th hour awakening for climate action. Bell ringers of all ages are welcome! Our friends at the Shambhala Center across the street also participate with gongs and singing bowls…we take turns ringing our various instruments. It is fun, and we always attract some attention from folks walking by, and from passing cars.

Visit 11th Hour Calling’s Facebook page to stay connected between bell ringing events. And don’t forget to LIKE the page! 11th Hour Calling also has a beautiful, brand-new website, so please visit there often! If you have any questions about the bell ringing event, please email Mary Beth Downing.

Absolutely EVERYONE is welcome! Since 1997, FUMC Boulder has been a Reconciling Congregation, fully welcoming of LGBTQ people and their loved ones.
