Christian faith and life in community call us to care for one another. The programs of the First Church congregational care umbrella offer a variety of ways, coordinated, promoted and celebrated by the Care Ministries team.

Love in Action

  • Provides meals, transportation, errands, etc. for short-term needs
  • Coordinated by Helga Schroeder with a significant group of volunteers on call

Spruce Street Angels

The Spruce Street Angels are part of the care ministries of First United Methodist
Church of Boulder whose mission is to address the health, wellness and spiritual needs
of the congregation.

All of us at First Church need a helping hand (or wing) at one time or another. The
Spruce Street Angels consist of lay and professional volunteers. Listed below are some
of the services we can provide:

  • Errands
  • Transportation to appointments, shopping, events
  • Meals
  • Friendly visits
  • Regular contact through phone calls
  • Care management by professional nurse care manager.

The Prayer Chain

  • Offers intercessory prayers upon request for needs and concerns
  • Co-coordinators are Kay Strauss, Ginny Wells, and Helga Schroeder


  • Offers visitation to hospitals and nursing homes as need requires
  • Coordinated by Beth Hayward
