Melissa Bailey-Kirk arrives in October for a 10-week stay as our Autumn Theologian in Residence (TIR). She is a pastor in the Missouri Annual Conference, where she has served as Pastor and Co-Pastor of local churches, co-creator and facilitator of SpiritConnection, and as a Faculty Instructor at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. The foci of her ministry are spiritual formation, spiritual discernment, sacred conversation, family systems and congregation life, and story. Along the way she served as pastor of Betsy Lay and her family.
Melissa will offer many kinds of settings, “in an experience-based learning process of the circle way of being in conversation that emerged through the wisdom of indigenous persons.” We will be able to choose differing kinds of circles: story circles, conversation circles, worship circles, circles of silence and circles of advocacy and activism.
As we do with all TIRs, we offer Melissa an opportunity for a “reverse-Sabbath.” She will work with us one day a week and rest, write and re-create six days a week. She will complete a major writing project. We will officially welcome Melissa on Sunday, October 21. She will arrive earlier at our Mountain Haven in Rollinsville and begin acclimating to living at 9000 feet. She will return to Missouri on December 16.
