Our friends at the United Methodist Church of Johnstown, an UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Hub for our area, sent local Methodist churches this letter telling us how we can help make HYGIENE KIT DAY, coming up on May 6, a success.
Keep reading to find out how YOU can help!
Dear Friend of UMCOR,
The United Methodist Church of Johnstown is now an UMCOR Hub for the Peaks-Plains District. We are sponsoring a Hygiene Kit Day on Sunday, May 6th, and we are inviting all the churches in the district to help out. UMCOR has requested that we focus on Hygiene Kits for this drive.
Your church can help in any of several ways:
1.) Sponsor a kit-building party at your church. Your church would purchase all of the “ingredients,” then assemble them into kits. Attached to this e-mail are the instructions for building Hygiene Kits.
2.) Using the ingredients list, simply purchase kit items and get them to UMC Johnstown for assembly.
3.) Send money to the Hub for items. Make checks out to “UMC Johnstown” and be sure to put “UMCOR Hub” in the memo line.
Whichever way you choose, we can help you get the items to Johnstown. We can come to Peaks Sub-District churches and pick up items, and we can make arrangements with Plains Sub-District churches to either meet you half-way, or set up a holding place.
If you wish to bring items to UMC Johnstown, our address is 108 King Ave, Johnstown, CO 80534. Please call ahead (970-587-4444) and let us know when you’ll be here.
Once we’ve collected all of these items, we may need help getting them to the UMCOR Depot in Salt Lake City. If someone in your church was planning on driving to Annual Conference in Ogden and has room for some buckets or boxes, please give us their contact information.
Thank you for your help. UMCOR truly makes a difference in lives at home and around the world.
Rev. John Hiestand
Pastor, United Methodist Church of Johnstown
