Did you know that First UMC of Boulder has formed a Green Team? It’s true! And this is our first weekly installment of the new Climate Connect blog that we will publish every Wednesday. This blog will provide you with information about the work our Green Team is doing and how you can participate in environmental stewardship.
Our Green Team held its first meeting in early June, and we have hit the ground running with ideas and initiatives for bringing the climate crisis conversation to First UMC of Boulder.
One of our first goals is to identify and commit to 11 things we are going to change as a community and as individuals that all have a positive impact on reducing our carbon footprint, both in our homes and at church. We are also working towards promoting environmental stewardship in our community, and plan to host workshops and events that address these issues. And, finally, we have set a meeting schedule for the next few months so that anyone who would like to join the Green Team is able to. Our next meeting is on Sunday, June 30th, immediately following worship.
For this first Climate Connect blog, I invite you to check out these resources from other United Methodists who actively work at the intersection of faith and creation care.
