Dr. Hal Taussig, Professor Emeritus of New Testament at Union Theological Seminary, will once again be with us as a Theologian-in-Residence (TIR) on two upcoming Sundays: 8/18 and 9/1. On both mornings, Hal will lead Forum at 9:00 AM, and preach during our 10:30 AM service.
Hal’s topic, building off of our summer Voices of Truth series, will center around the voice of Jesus singing in the Odes of Solomon. Hal will explore how the sung voice of Jesus in the Odes adds a particular character to his voice of truth. He will touch on all of the odes in general, but will particularly delve into Ode 36 and Ode 8 in his sermons. Mark your calendars!
Hal Taussig is a recently-retired professor and United Methodist pastor. The most recent of his 14 published books is Re-Reading the Gospel of Mark Amidst Loss and Trauma. His mediography includes The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Daily Show, People Magazine, Newsweek, National Public Radio, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC, The Bob Edwards Show on Sirius Radio, The History Channel, and The Washington Post.
